WINTER ACTION

Winter is an exciting time here in Slovenia.  Winter conditions and snow offer a whole range of opportunities to try new activities.  Here’s what we can offer you:

SKIING

Slovenia has many ski resorts offering slopes and activities suitable for all levels.

Downhill Alpine Skiing - Working together with Alpe, based at the Kobla ski centre in Bohinska Bistrica, we offer a range of skiing options for novices or the more experienced skiers.  Arrangements can be made for individual or group tuition, rental of clothing and equipment.

Tour Alpine Skiing  – For accomplished skiers with your own equipment, why not try the unique experience of Tour Alpine Skiing.  Avoid any queuing on the ski slopes and join us on the exploration of The Julian Alps, skiing in places with miles of virgin snow and views as far as the eye can see.

Freeride – Freeride skiing allows you to go on and off-piste and experience areas and manouvres that are usually inaccessible and unrecognizable to downhill skiing.  Freeride skiing is suitable only for experienced skiers and whilst it is possible to rent equipment, it is preferable if you have your own equipment.  For more details on Freeride skiing in Slovenia , contact us.

SNOWSHOEING - Snowshoeing offers an opportunity to explore the mountains and trails even whilst they are covered in snow.  Using snowshoes enables you to walk in the mountains through thick snow and access terrain that would usually be inaccessible in winter conditions.

SLEDGING – Our sledging experience starts from Lake Bohinj and is followed by a short drive to Vogar (1200m).  From here you can descend the longest toboggan run in Slovenia (10-12km).  For a different experience, night sledging is also available.

RIDING - The Mrcina Ranch at Studor near Bohinj offers horseback riding on Icelandic ponies and Lipica horses for adults and children. Children can take a safe and guided horseback ride round the pen or make a trip to nature.  Interesting excursions to the unspoiled nature of the Triglav National Park and other individual programmes are arranged according to your wishes. Trips range from 1 hour to full day 8 hour day trips. The Mrcina Ranch operates during the summer and winter seasons.

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING – The Pokljuka plateau, high above Bled, makes an ideal destination for Cross Country Skiing.  Every year the World Biathlon Championships are held here so you can come and follow in their footsteps and try ski running for yourself.  Cross Country skiing is fun, easy to learn, healthy and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

HIKING – The Julian and The Karavanke Alps offer a wealth of hiking opportunities.  From a few hours to full days or multi-day trips sleeping in traditional mountain huts en-route.  We choose trails that are unique enabling you to enjoy the peace, tranquillity and nature.  Our hikes are tailored for different levels of walking ability but all offer great views.

There are ample opportunities for hiking throughout the year whether in the sun or the snow.  Hiking is no doubt one of the best ways to really experience the surroundings of the Triglav National Park and the mountains of The Karavanke and The Julian Alps.

Whether you want a multi-day trip to the top of our highest mountain, Mount Triglav (2864m), staying overnight in a mountain hut and visiting en-route The Seven Lakes Valley, a full day hike or just a few hours, we’ve got a walk for you.  No matter where you walk, you will be surrounded by unspoilt nature, flora and fauna.
